4Great Product – Here’s some tips and thoughts
By B. Faulkner
Used this to side a new house with 8 1/4″ Hardiplank lap siding, with a 7″ reveal. Two decades ago we made our own hangers… Glad I found theses for my first Hardi job, because they’re fantastic and easily made it a two-person job (one to cut and one to hang). It is also easily a one person job for low work, but climbing up and down from scaffolding for high work will get old. There are many glowing reviews of this product, and you should believe them, so here are some tips and thoughts:

5You need this tool!
By J. Watson
Carpenter and contractor for 30 yrs.

Got a siding job, a job I’ve done many times in the past but rarely do anymore. Called for Hardiplank fiber-cement siding, which I haven’t used before, so I did all the research I could in an attempt to be as efficient as possible. I started the job solo a couple of days before the siding crew that was hired showed up. Got all my elevations and transferred all my course lines and went to work. I immediately found that the individual planks varied in width by around 3/16″, a discrepancy that adds up very quickly and would usually make it necessary to check layout constantly. However, because these gauges clamp on rather than hang from the top of the previous course, they register from the bottom, which is the true course line. I was hitting my lines consistently, and felt the need to check layout much less often.

When the siding crew showed up they rolled their eyes at my fancy green gauges, but in less than an hour I could barely pry them out of their paws. Ended up selling to the lead guy for what I paid so he’d have them for his next job that Monday.

I’ll be buying another set.

5Great Product.
By Mike in Texas
These are great if you’re doing a siding job alone. They are easy to use and make the job a breeze. The only improvement I would like to see is more exposure settings. The holes are drilled so that exposures can be set on 5,6,7, or 8 inches only; nothing in between. My exposure needed to be 6.75 inches in order for the siding to align with the top of windows and doors so I had to hot glue a 1/4 inch spacer to make it work. Still, a great product; worth the money. I would buy again.
