“decent” square

Maybe I expect too much from a rafter square, but the one I received was not perfectly square. I bought this square to use with a Veritas square fence. I ended up shimming one end of the fence with three pieces of paper to make it square. I don’t know if there is such a thing as a perfect rafter square. I bought this one to build cabinets and furniture which is not the intent of the product, so I shouldn’t complain. For framing it would probably be satisfactory. The yellow print on the black background is sharp and easy on the eyes. The product is definitely lighter than a steel square so therefore easier to handle. The description claims that it is made from extra thick aluminum. It is no thicker than any other aluminum framing square I’ve seen.

Excellent, light weight framing square.

Markings on this square are high visibility and easy to read. Its light weight makes it possible to keep it within easy reach while working, and also easier to hold it securely against the workpiece than a heavier steel square. This is especially important when the work requires one to hold a square in an awkward position in order to mark a line, or to ascertain that the workpieces are square.
